In 1992 Chris joined his brother John and father John G. Lama at New York Urban as a property inspector, assisted in underwriting commercial properties. 

 

Through affiliations with national lending sources, NY Urban provides borrowers with Construction, Permanent, Bridge, Mezzanine and Equity for all income producing property types. Since 2000, the firm has originated over $5 Billion in commercial mortgages throughout the country.  Chris’s responsibilities were expanded to include CMBS originations and loan management for the parent company.

 

Since 2000, Chris has originated over 80 transactions totaling $2.5 billion that encompass the full extent of commercial real estate financing including debt, mezzanine, construction and 1031 financings.

 

Along with his brother John and father John G. they created NY Urban Funding; which is a Bridge and Mezzanine lending platform. Since 2006 the entity has funded over $100 million in high yield mortgages and mezzanine positions.

About Us

John G. joined NY Urban Servicing Co. Inc. in 1980 when he along with Frank Harvey purchased New York Urban Servicing Co., Inc.  

 

Prior to NY Urban John was responsible for new loan originations as well as managing a team of loan officers handling troubled loans and foreclosures throughout the country and Puerto Rico for Chase Manhattan Bank, and was Senior Vice President, at in charge of acquisitions and finance. Kimco was one of the top ten largest shopping center owners in the country and is now a very successful REIT.

 

In 1997, Mr. Lama and the other key investors started Bridge Funding, a short term lending company and also purchased a SBIC company. 

 

In 2006, Mr. Lama sold his interest in Bridge Funding and the SBIC and along with his sons, formed NY Urban Funding, a Bridge and Mezzanine lending platform. To date, NY UrbanFunding has closed over 60 loans totaling in excess of $100 million in the tri-state area.

Frank joined NY Urban Servicing Co. Inc. in 1978 as an employee however it quickly became obvious that he was determined to own the company when the company was listed for sale in 1980.  Frank along with John Lama purchased New York Urban Servicing Co., Inc.  

 

Prior to NY Urban Frank was responsible for new loan originations at Union Dime Savings Bank

 

In 1997, Mr. Harvey and the other key investors started Bridge Funding, a short term lending company and also purchased a SBIC company. 

 

In 2006, Mr. Harvey sold his interest in Bridge Funding and the SBIC and along with Mr. Lama, formed NY Urban Funding, a Bridge and Mezzanine lending platform.

Irwin Shapiro has 30 plus years in the real estate business working with NY Urban completing transactions that included the sale and joint venture of retail, office and multifamily properties in NY, NJ and Conn. Mr Shapiro arranged mortgage financing for hundreds of commercial properties which included ground up construction and permanent financing for large multifamily developments.

 

Served for many years as NY Urban's Director of FHA Financing and Transactions. Currently acts in the capacity of major investor and

Partner in NY Urbans multifamily development business.
